    I am of the opinion that the dates might retrogress to somewhere in 2005 June as the worst case (by Oct-Nov), because the 05 numbers should really be low to start with due to PERM issues. Again this is just my educated guess.

    With the current situation, I think it may take 2 to 3 months...

    Probable longer for an RFE. Receipt notices are taking 6 weeks+. When do you think EAD will come out. It used to be 60-90 days. With quite a few EADs out in less than 60 days.

    Any ideas

    My friend, "USA point of view is multinational executives can potentially create jobs", but the reality is the other way round. They are here to to make the transition happen from Onshore to Offshore. I have complete knowledge on how this EB1 thing works , as I was one of them once upon a time before taking up my current job.

    If this bill pass without our provisions in it lot of us will be doomed!!
    If the bill passes then obviously they have to look into people who are stuck in labor in BECs right. Look at the labor substitution elimination rule it will go into effect from July 15 and its still 1 1/2 months. Also it gives relief to people who havent applied next stages although labor approved and whose labor is to approve.

    I believe the majority ofthe IV members are from Indian origins. they should contact the Indian community that donated money to Hilary and ask why she voted against legal immigrants. she is preparing for her election compaign.     I am a great admirer of IV and all the efforts IV did so far.
    I am going to participate 100% sure in the rally. I am spreading word of mouth everyday about the rally. So far I had convinced 15 people to attend to the rally. Everyone complained that they have work on that day as I expected. However I convinced them and they are 100% sure to participate.
    I am pretty confident that this Rally is going to be huge success and will change our lives for sure.

    Thanks everyone for contributing so far and also convincing others to attend the rally or helping IV in any way you can. I will add up the numbers and post updates every couple of days so that we know how we are doing on the target.Thanks again for contributing.     When you are working for a large(r) corporation, where all fees (including EAD/AP) are paid for by the company, who pays for the MTR?

    I was under the impression that the employer pays for the filing, attorney, etc. fees, am I wrong?

    How can you join a company on 11/2010 and apply for Perm EB2 on 12/22/2010 ?

    I thought they needed to place an ad and do interviews and pre-Perm process takes about 6 months.

    I am in 6th year of H1 and I am changing jobs. The new employer will file for GC but since the new H1 will be extended for only 1.5 yrs I was wondering if I will have enough time to get thru to the I-140 stage in that time.

    Any Opinion/Suggestion ?

    Its pretty easy, a small desi company will start your PERM GC process even before you join them.
    You can use this, to start the process in 2 or 3 companies, and when everything is cleared join the one where its sure of getting approved.

    Oct 2002: MS complete, transfered to H1
    Dec 2004: 1st Labor, EB3 - stuck in BEC
    Mar 2007: Laid Off, labor still pending, lost PD
    April 2007: New Employer, required to wait 6 months before GC process starts, missed the July Fiasco
    Oct 2007: 2nd labor, EB2 - stuck in Business Requirement Audit
    Oct 2008: Changed Employers, 3rd labor, EB3 - New company had other pending EB2 audit, lawyers played safe.

    Never worked for a desi or consulting company. All my Employers were American and Fortune 500.

    If we start the fasting and rallying the American people will view it as nothing but "Countries of the East" sending their millions to other countries to show their strength in numbers.

    Another thing. There was a suggestion of starting "free coaching classes" for kids as a volunteer service. Excellent Idea IFFF and ONLY IFFF we are doing it With the actual intent of providing education to the under-priviledged. Otherwise, once immigrants' voices are heard, and relief comes through, guess what will happen? These coaching classes will stop dead in their tracks. This will attract NEGATIVE publicity sending a message that the so called "Volunteer Effort" was nothing but a PUBLICITY STUNT.
    one way to demonstrate our worth is for our employers to come out and speak loudly. i am trying to get my employer to do exactly this. but we need new ideas.

    BTW: sidenote: in all these years of reading about Gandhi, and I am a big fan of history, I have never heard of a mountain called "Gandhigiri." Exactly where is this mountain located? :)

    Clarification - i meant Senior Member based on seniority on this Site and not based on age :). This idea has been brain stormed many times in the past and ruled out by many as it is not in our best interests and also not workable. Members who have been visting this site for some time would know and hence the comment about Seniority :)

    Agreed, my thoughts on this are different from yours. Good..not every one thinks the same otherwise we would be short of ideas :)

    first, I don't know what you mean by "Senior Member like you coming up with this idea". Seniority on this site I think is determined by how long a member has been registered. Second, even if it means older members, what does age have to do with this idea?

    I have already said that most IV members (clearly you are one) are opposed to this.
    My thoughts happen to be different from yours, and I dont plan on changing my ideas anytime soon.

    Of course for this to work there has to be a signficant number of participants, otherwise actually nothing is going to work. And even with significant participation, there are no guarantees: look at how many people called Sen Sessions, but still made no difference.

    Last, dont you guys get vacation?? Who is talking abut losing money? If you are paid hourly then dont take part.
    and if you dont agree you dont need me to tell you dont be a part of this.

    But, as mentioned many, many, many times before, I am for this idea, or something that gets attention in a big way.

    The impact to companies like Infy etc is ~5-10MM

    If someone look at their last year Balance sheet, They spent appx 16MM on visas, now assuming H1 cost came to ~10MM (these companies do lot of business elsewhere )

    that would translate to ~ 2500 filings (including extn, new etc)

    this additional $2000 would result in additional $5MM cost if they decide to continue filing 2500

    This would not be too huge to make a dent on these companies. yes they may increase their billing to client by $2-5

    So who is ultimately paying it is the American companies who use offshoring companies.

    This new law:

    1.) won't stop Infy, TCS from operating in USA

    2.) Won't create jobs for americans

    3.) Won't increase the competitiveness of american employees

    4.) Will increase offshoring

    5.) Will make a small dent in the profits of Indian companies but they likely will cut down on expenses/bonuseses/initiatives

    2009 is VERY OPTIMISTIC. Why would a new administration take up "touchy" issue like immigration in its 1st year (2009)? Least we can expect is 2010 IF NOTHING HAPPENS BY MID NOVEMBER - Congress goes to recess for the year.The window of opportunity is short!

    Hello guys

    For many of us, today is payday. What better day than today to make your first time contribution. I understand most of the money that we get is earmarked for something or the other. In a few days we again start our long wait for the next paycheck. On CNBC, I heard one commentator talking about consumers and how apt they were to rearrange their expenditure to the changing environment. For us, the environment is pretty static in the Green card world and there is very little change in the last several years.

    So I urge you to rearrange your expenditure and contribute and see the environment change.

    Please remember I will contribute $25 for each contribution of $100 from a member who is making this contribution for the first time.
